PM Narendra Modi Speech Highlights

“Manju”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday addressed the nation on the extension of lockdown to curb the spread of coronavirus. This comes as the Centre earlier today announced that the doubling time of Covid-19 cases had now improved to 12.2 days from 10.9 days.
The nationwide lockdown has been in force since March 25 to contain the spread of the virus, which has killed more than 2,200 people and afflicted more than 70,000 in the country.
PM Modi had earlier said that the biggest challenge for the country will be to ensure that the infection does not spread to villages. For this, he suggested strict adherence to ‘do gaz doori’ or social distancing.
Here are top quotes from the Prime Minister’s speech:
– It has been more than four months since the world is waging a battle against Covid-19. One virus has brought the world down to its knees. This crisis is unprecedented but the human race cannot be defeated. We must save ourselves and at the same time progress.
– We have to be more determined than ever and need to further strengthen our resolve, he said. He added the world talks about how the 21st century belongs to India. A self-reliant India is a way ahead.
– There was a time when PPE kits were not made in India and hardly any N-95 masks were produced. As many as two lakh PPE kits and those many masks are being made in India now.
– India has given a ray of hope to the world, and its culture has stressed that the world is a family. India has never been self-centered, and its definition of self-reliance takes into account the needs of a globalized world.
-PM Modi mentions the earthquake in Gujarat’s Kutch in 2001. He said that although we saw the destruction brought by the quake, we also saw how Kutch got back on its feet.
-An economic package of Rs 20 lakh crore in, equivalent to 10% of India’s GDP will help aid the Aatma Nirbhar Bharat Abhiyaan.
-The five pillars for a self-reliant India are economy, infrastructure, a technology-driven system, vibrant demography, supply-demand chain.
-Land, labour, liquidity, and law has been looked at closely. MSMEs, small business, co-operative business have been given special attention in the package.
– Starting tomorrow, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will apprise you in detail about the package meant to drive towards Aatma Nirbhar Bharat Abhiyaan.
-The local has saved us. It is not only a necessity but also our responsibility. Local has to become our “jeevan mantra.” Today’s global brands were all once local. Every citizen has to be vocal for locals
-India is committed to bold economic reforms. This package is for those who will take India forward. The package will have important announcements for every sector as all of us have been touched by a coronavirus.
-We have to be stronger. We have to save ourselves and keep moving forward at the same time. We have been hearing that the 21st century will belong to India, but this is not just a dream but our responsibility too. But how to achieve it. The current world situation shows, there is only one way: self-reliant India.
Scientists say that coronavirus will be a part of our lives for a very long time. But we can’t let our lives remain confined around coronavirus. We will wear masks and maintain social distancing but we will not let it affect us. So lockdown 4.0 will be in a new form with new rules. The lockdown 4.0 will be based on the suggestions by the state. The details will be out before May 18.
