HAL is confident of competing with foreign firms in the NUH competition and proving that their product is as good as any foreign helicopter.

This shows the potential of HAL.

The HAL Director said that segmenting the blades of ALH will do the job just as it has been proven to be successful at LUH in harsh conditions. HAL proved that they can do their blade return in just 7 minutes as opposed to 10 minutes.

The director said that HAL 111 NUH will be delivered at a faster rate. Even today, current orders are delivered ahead of schedule. With the modified ALH we can meet the NUH requirement and compete with any foreign helicopter. If a foreign helicopter is selected, there will be a lot of foreign exchange in the government treasury.

Instead of supporting a domestic product that empowers Indian PVT companies, an order for a foreign helicopter would be tantamount to subsidizing a foreign company.
