Free bus service for migrant workers extended till Thursday in Karnataka

The Karnataka State government on Monday extended free bus service for migrant labourers for two more days.

Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa said that free travel arrangements will be made up to Thursday.

Earlier, after criticism from various sections, he had said free KSRTC bus services for three days upto Tuesday.

In a statement by the CM, he said that 951 KSRTC buses ferried provided 30,000 people to their native on Sunday. As many as 550 buses from Bengaluru and 400 buses in other cities of the State have been deployed for this purpose.

From Saturday (May 2) at least 46,000 persons have taken buses to return home.

Trains:

On Monday two trains will set off to Jaipur in Rajasthan and Patna in Bihar.

On Sunday, two trains have started for Patna in Bihar and one each for Ranchi in Jharkhand and Bhubaneshwar in Odisha.

These four trains have transported 4,800 passengers to these states.

Free food and drinking water has been provided to all the passengers , the CM’s statement said.
