The Book ‘Manavarashi Innale Innu Nale’ Became the Turning Point in Life – Swami Sayoojyanath Jnana Thapaswi

Santhigiri: Swami Sayoojyanath Jnana Thapaswi said that the turning point in his life and the reason for him to come to the Ashram was the book ‘Manavarasi Innale Innu, Nale’. He was sharing his experience in the Meeting held at the Spiritual Zone Conference Hall on the 7th day celebrations of the 38th Sannyasa Deeksha Varshikam of Santhigiri Ashram. Although not a great believer in God, his family had a tradition of respecting sanyasis. I have heard that sanyasis used to come and stay in my father’s and mother’s family. Once, when my grandmother was young, a sage came when she was standing in front of the house. He asked for a waterpot (kooja). Even though a water pot was available in the house, she lied that there is no kooja because they used to cook fish and meat in the kitchen. But when Sannyasi said that it was in the kitchen, and to give it to him, the mother explained her difficulty. Grandma begged him forgiveness for saying no. She said to the Sannyasi that her kitchen was not clean enough to give the kooja. ‘It doesn’t matter, wash it, and bring it here,’ the sage said. ‘He did not go to any house in that area. He went straight from his house to Ganapatikunnu where the Upashram is situated today,’ the Swami said.
Continuing his narration, the Swami said that ‘there was some negativity in me from childhood. My childhood ambition was to become a Naxal leader. The family took me to my father’s sister’s house hoping to change my mind. They were devotees of Sai Baba. I read Sai Baba’s books and liked the concept. It was then that I came to know about Santhigiri Ashram and the Guru from a friend named Shanti Swaroop. He gave me the book “Manavarashi Innale Innu  Nale” to read. That book was the turning point in my life. During Onam in 1993, I visited Santhigiri Ashram with my friend and met the Guru. There was an explosion of thoughts in my mind. The doubt was whether to follow Sai Baba’s ideology or Guru’s. But that doubt did not last long. The mind was completely surrendered to Guru. Later, I told Shishya Poojitha about the doubts that had arisen in my mind that day. Then Shishya Poojitha answered that a disciple doubts the Guru seven times. During the construction work of Sahakarana Mandiram, I got the opportunity to come and stay in the Ashram for two months and I could participate in many activities of the Ashram later in my life.’
The Swami concluded wishing that everyone would be able to work with unadulterated devotion for the mission of Guru
