World Interfaith Harmony Week at Santhigiri Ashram

Pothencode (Thiruvananthapuram): Santhigiri Ashram becomes the venue for this year’s World Interfaith Harmony Week which is usually celebrated in the first week of February every year by the United Nations. Ashram General Secretary Swami Gururethnam Jnana Thapaswi will inaugurate the World Interfaith Harmony Week tomorrow (Wednesday, February 1, 2023) at 4 pm at the Shrine of Togetherness( Sahakarna mandiram) . World Yoga Community Global Chairman and UN Guru Dilipji Maharaj, Secretary of Religious NGO’s will preside over the function. Palayam Imam Dr. VP Suhaib Maulavi and Bishop Dr. Mathews Mar Polycarpus will participate as special guests. Santhigiri Mathrumandalam Head Janani Prameela Jnana Thapaswini will be present. Representatives of various cultural organization of the ashram Dr. T. S. Somanathan, P.A. Hemalatha, M.P. Pramod, P.P. Babu, N.M. Manu, Sukrita, A. B. Shaji and others will attend the function. In 2010, at the request of King Abdullah II and Prince Qazi bin Mohammed of Jordan, the UN established a week of interfaith harmony around the world. The General Assembly passed the resolution. The General Assembly considered mutual understanding and interfaith dialogue to be important dimensions of a culture of peace. Recognizing the imperative need for dialogue between different faiths and religions to enhance mutual understanding, harmony and cooperation among people,the celebration is organized and with the objective of spreading the message of interfaith harmony and harmony in churches, mosques, synagogues, temples and other places of the world and promote unity among all people irrespective of faith.
