Bengaluru: Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa convened a high-level meeting to discuss and chalk out ways to combat corona pandemic in the state, on Monday, following the massive spike in corona positive cases.

With many opining that the people coming into the state from other states are the major factor for spike in Corona cases, it has been decided to impose a compulsory 14 day quarantine period for all inter-state arrivals.

Earlier, the state had relaxed the quarantine norms and stated that people returning from high-risk states will be institutionally quarantined for the first week and will be allowed to go on home quarantine for later seven days if they are tested negative for Covid-19.

“We need to trace all contacts of every patient within 24 hours and quarantine them; quarantine for 14 days every inter-state arrival and test more in quantity and quality of vulnerable and infectious groups,” said Karnataka State Covid War Room Director Munish Moudgil in a statement here.

Minister for Medical Education Dr. K Sudhakar too has informed about the same. However, what remains unclear is whether the persons will be kept under home quarantine or institutional quarantine.
