Pothencode: Dr. K.N. Shyamaprasad stated Health means spiritual and physical well-being. Society has many different views on health. Body and mind are co-related. The existence of the body,is linked to food likewise meditation, yoga,are the existence of the mind. A restless mind will have certain reflection in the body. Therefore mind and body are inter related.A sound mind in a sound body.So body and mind are complementary.

Dr. K. N. Shyamaprasad, said that when complementarity is lost, it leads to illnesses and other problems.He was speaking at the Sanyas Deeksha Anniversary awareness class, held at the Santhigiri Ashram, Spiritual Zone Conference Hall today (2-10-2022 Sunday) at 11.00 am.

Every person should have knowledge about health. Health education and health promotion are of utmost importance. Our diet should include energy-rich foods that provide the body with the energy it needs. Have a balanced diet. Foods rich in starch, protein, fat, minerals, fiber, water and nutrients should be consumed. The air we breathe must be pure and clean, only then the natural substances that our body needs through the process of breathing will also be clean. There are many things we need to take care of in our healthcare. The food itself should be rich. If it is like this, it is better to use rice mixed with bran, refined wheat (yellow) and unadulterated sugar. Vegetarianism is never bad. For those who are vegetarians, fruits, vegetables and milk are the main course. Fruits contain vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. Antioxidants are those which removes toxins in our body through metabolisim effectively. A balanced diet should contain 30 grams of fiber.

Vegetables are low in iron, so leafy greens should be consumed in abundance. Soybeans should be eaten as they are rich in protein. Vegetarians have less common health issues
but deficiency of vitamin B12 and zinc is seen. Eating almonds, green onions, cabbage, broccoli, and tapioca in the diet has also been suggested to increase thyroid function. Health care should include exercise along with diet. 20 minute walk in the morning and evening is essential. Walk at least five days a week. Don’t skip regular treatments and check-ups. He added that instead of excessive salt, fried foods and coconut oil, we must include olive oil and peanut oil as daily part of the diet.

He was speaking on the Health awareness class which was held on 6th Day of Sannyasa Deeksha Anniversary. The celebrations will conclude with Vastra Deeksha Ceremony on Wednesday, October 5.
