There has been a constant increase in the number of Covid-19 cases being reported from across Delhi, and this has kept the state administration on its toes. Of late, there have also been several cases of our Corona Warriors – the police officers and the nursing staff – testing positive, while doing their jobs.

It is keeping this in mind that an RWA called United Residents of Delhi, has decided to run a campaign titled, “Hum Bhi Warriors”.The members of this group having been going around the city sanitising police barricades in different parts of East Delhi. Apart from this, they also distribute sanitisers, masks and gloves to the policemen who are on duty at the barricades.

The main idea behind this initiative is that the cops come in contact with different kinds of people while doing their job. The RWA members are also working towards distribution of food to the daily labourers. The members of the United Residents of Delhi have also created a system of working where they have formed two teams that provide support to the police at the barricades at all times.

As of now they have sanitised all the barricades in Shahdara, and in the coming few days they plan to cover the areas of Shastri Park, Loni and Bhajanpura. Apart from this, RWA Balbir Nagar has decided to cover the police station of Mansarovar Park.

Saurav Gandhi, General Secretary of United Residence of Delhi said, “We are seeing how this epidemic is spreading its footprint throughout the country. In this situation, our policemen are constantly cooperating and trying to save us. We should also do our duty. We have seen how of late, the policemen deployed are also becoming victims of the virus. Therefore, we took it upon us to sanitise police barricades and this campaign was launched.
