COVID-19: Whopping 5,030 new COVID cases in Karnataka, push tally past 80K

Bengaluru: The state reported 5,030 new COVID-19 cases and 97 deaths on Thursday, July 23. This brings the total number of confirmed novel coronavirus infections to 80,863 and death toll to 1,616.

Bengaluru Urban alone reported 2,207 cases and Raichur reported 258 new infections. Kalaburagi reported 229 new cases.

While 2,071 people were discharged after making a full recovery from the disease today, 640 people are being treated in ICUs across the state.

The breakup of the fresh cases are: Dakshina Kannada (218), Belagavi (214), Dharwad (183), Ballari (164), Bengaluru Rural (161), Udupi (160), Mysuru (116), Hassan (108), Davanagere (107), Bagalakote (106), Bidar (94), Uttara Kannada (83), Shivamogga (82), Gadag (72), Chikkaballapura (65), Chikkamagaluru (62), Tumakuru (56), Yadagir (55), Mandya (50), Kolara (40), Chamarajanagara (27), Ramanagara (26), Kodagu (22), Vijayapura (20), Haveri (18), Koppala (17), and Chitradurga (10).

There are 49,931 active COVID-19 cases in the state. So far, a total of 29,310 have been discharged. Additionally, six people have died of non-COVID causes.

Meanwhile, lockdown has been lifted in several districts including Bengaluru, Dakshina Kannada etc.
