Return full fees if admission is cancelled, UGC tells universities

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has directed universities to return full fees to the students who cancel their admission to undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the academic year 2020-21. The UGC said that the corona virus pandemic and the resulting financial difficulties could have affected the parents of the students ,Hence the fees must be returned. The UGC has directed universities to return full fees to students who cancel their admission after having secured their admissions before November 30.If the admission was secured within dec 21 ,the Universities can charge up to Rs 1000 as processing fees.UGC issued the directive after widespread complaints were raised against the demand of universities that students should remitt full fees even if they cancel admission.
