Kaname’s Bharthanatayam on the eve of Navapoojitham

Pothencode (Thiruvananthapuram): Japanese dancer Kaname Tomiyasu would perform Bharthanatayam at Santhigiri Ashram on the eve of Navapoojitham celebrations. Kaname will perform Bharatanatyam on Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at 7 pm. Kaname’s love for the warmth of Indian culture led her to study Bharatanatyam since her childhood. Born in Thailand, Kaname studied at New Delhi Japanese School till March 2018. She has been learning Bharatanatyam ever since she was four years old. She made her debut at the age of eleven. She is under the guidance of Padma Bhushan Saroja Vaidyanathan, founder of Ganesh Natyalaya, a performing arts institution in Delhi.

Kaname is also active in working with embassies to promote Indian and Japanese cultures. She came to know more about the Ashram and Guru by meeting Swami Gururethnam Jnana Thapaswi, the General Secretary of Santhigiri Ashram in Delhi. Kaname expressed her wish to perform Bharatanatyam in Guru’s land and it is being fulfilled on Navapoojitham day.
