The Education System Should Come Out of the System – Dr. G. R. Kiran

“Manju”

Oman: Middle East College Dean Dr. G.R. Kiran said that the education system around the world should come out of its existing institutional framework and only if they study the environment and understand the changes in society, the skills of the young generation can be brought out. He was speaking while inaugurating the closing session of the Avenir 2023 Expo organized by 21 Indian schools in Oman at Darsait Senior School Auditorium.

The students have been taught the same lesson for years. There is no change with time. Parents train their children for good-paying jobs. Not many parents can nurture the creative capacity beyond their instincts. Those who teach their children by imposing excessive study load and keeping them within four walls are alienating them from social responsibilities. They do not learn how to protect their parents and how to behave in family relationships. Then he asked the teachers how they would be able to learn the lessons of humanity.

50% of the jobs known to the older generation do not exist today. But there are new job opportunities. This is because of modernity. But it should be understood that we cannot give guidance to students without understanding the new possibilities and employment opportunities that have arisen in modern times. We see students finding jobs on their own and moving to abroad. Today, world-class companies are trying to select people who have talent and creativity beyond academic certificates.

We must learn the lessons of globalization, economic change, environment, technology, politics, and the pandemic. There should be the Growth Skills to learn new things and find opportunities. He introduced seven factors through his presentation, such as the ideas of Resilience, Attention Management, Critical Thinking, Innovativeness, Creativity, the ability to understand and communicate effectively in social interactions (Social Intelligence), and the effort to make a meaningful change in any endeavor and reach the goal (Impactfulness) that should be molded in every child. The presentation, citing many examples and incidents, was noted on the international stage.

Hanan Al-Balushi, Senior Supervisor, General Directorate of English Language Supervisory Unit, Muscat General Directorate, was the special guest at the ceremony presided over by Indian Schools Oman Board of Directors Chairman Dr. Shivakumar Manikyam. Dr. G. R. Kiran was honored at the event.
