A Prayerful Start to Santhigiri Avadhuta Yatra at Chandirur

“Manju”

Aroor (Alappuzha): The Avadhuta Yatra of the Shishya Parampara of Santhigiri Ashram founder Navajyoti Sri Karunakara Guru through twenty-five places associated with Guru’s life has begun at Chandirur Janma Griham. Today (Wednesday, May 1st) the prayer started with the 5 am worship. In the Satsang that followed, Santhigiri Ashram President Swami Chaitanya Jnana Thapasvi gave an introductory speech. The Swami said that Avadhuta Yatra is to know the magnitude of Guru’s sadhana and realize the good fortune we have received.

Chandirur is the promised land of God. Ashram General Secretary Swami Gururatnam Jnana Thapasvi said in his address that the shade we experience here is the light of the Guru, the wind here is the chestbeat of Guru, the harvest song here is the song of God and even the grains of sand here have a story to tell about the travails of Guru. Swami’s words were a direct picture of the Guru’s troubled childhood.

After the 6 o’clock worship, around 200 people, including the Sannyasi Sangha in saffron clothes, the Brahmachari Sangha in white clothes, and the Grihasthas, set out for the Avadhuta Yatra with prayers. The group will first go to Kaladi Agamananda Ashram, followed by a visit to Aluva Advaita Ashram. The Avadhutha Yatra will be given a welcome at Palarivattam, Ernakulam, Arur, Thambakachuvad, and Haripad.
