Dr. K. Jagannathan appointed as first President of Board of Unani , Siddha and Sowa Rigpa

New delhi: Dr.Jaganathan, Principal in charge and HoD, ‘Maruthuvam’ department of Santhigiri Siddha Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram has been appointed as the president of the board of Unani, Siddha and Sowa-Rigpa under the newly formed National Commission for Indian System of Medicine, New Delhi by the recent order of the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Government of India. The tenure is for four years. As the central cabinet has approved the formation of National Commission of Indian System of Medicine, the erstwhile chairperson of Board of governors of Central Council of Indian Medicine Vaidhya Jayant Yeshwant Deopujari has been appointed as the chairperson of National Commission of Indian System of Medicine. The newly formed commission is primarily having four boards governing Ayurveda apart from Unani, Siddha & Sowa-Rigpa together as another one. Separate boards also formed for assessment and ratings apart from ethics and registeration.

Dr. Srinivasa Prasad Budru, Principal/Medical Director of Shri.B.M.Kankanwadi Ayurveda Mahavidyalaya, Belagavi, Karnataka has been appointed as the president of the board of Ayurveda. Dr.Raghuram Bhatta U, Director of Post Graduate studies, Sushruta Ayurvedic medical college and hospital, Bengaluru as president of the board of medical assessment and ratings of Indian System of Medicine and Prof(Vaidhya).Rakesh Sharma, Dean, Guru Ravidas Ayurved University, Hoshiarpur, Punjab as the president of the board of Ethics and registeration of Indian System of Medicine had been appointed.

Dr.Jaganathan, hailing from Kannur Narrath, is a faculty of Santhigiri Siddha Medical College for the last 16 years and he is currently principal in charge also. Dr.Mohanambika is his wife. Dhanjay and Haripriya are his children. He is residing at Pranavam, Green gardens near to Santhigiri Ashram. He is also involved in Ashram medicine manufacturing and research activities. He is felicitated by the Santhigiri Ashram general secretary Swami Gururethnam Jnana Thapaswi as one of the rare moment of getting appointed to the first board on Siddha under National Commission of Indian System of Medicine and it’s recognition for Siddha system in Kerala. So many from Kerala and Tamil Nadu conveyed their felicitations.
