The Spiritual Zone is being set up in traditional style prior to the dedication at Santhigiri Ashram, Nambiarkunnu.

Sultanbatheri: Santigiri Ashram at Nambiarkunnu in Wayanad is getting ready with glimpses of Wayanad culture ahead of its dedication, which is scheduled to take place on April 5 at 9 am.

The Spiritual Zone of the Ashram is clothed in the beauty of nature without disturbing the soil and trees. The construction activities carried out there are entirely based on traditional tribal life.

Construction of long mud houses is in progress for the Exhibition like a tribal village where many families live together. A seven-foot tall bamboo stick is made which then gets covered with soil. The floor is made of earth and a half-wall is built in front. The roof of the shed is made of bamboo and straw.

The smooth walls of the house are beautifully painted with swastika symbols. According to the tribal women who do the construction work, there were such paintings on the floor outside the walls in the houses of the past.

At the time of the dedication, the adivasis will sing in the ashram atmosphere filled with the aroma of sandalwood and ashtadhupam. Njeralathu Harigovindan, son of Njeralath Rama Phuduwal and famous sopana music artist will also participate in the dedication ceremonies.

The main stage for the gatherings on that day is an open platform made of soil in the middle of the house built similar to that of the tribal elder.

At 8 p.m., fusion music and art performances will be staged at the same venue, where traditional musical instruments will be played like in the festivals of the past.
