The State Government on Saturday issued an order to open several businesses from Monday with limited workforce as directed by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) while continuing a strict lockdown in containment zones.
A day after the MHA orders, the Karnataka government too allowed most economic activities barring public transport in red zones including Bengaluru. There will be no interstate vehicular movement. Buses, auto-rickshaws and cabs, salons and spas are allowed in green and orange zones.
Meanwhile, Revenue Minister R Ashoka has asked BBMP Commissioners BH Anil Kumar to prepare a detailed note to divide Bengaluru into four zones so that restrictions of red zone be applied to only those areas with highest number of Covid-19 patients.
“We will forward it to the MHA for approval,’’ Ashoka said.
Liquor shops to open
An order issued by the Excise Commissioner on Saturday said that only stand alone CL – 2 (retail liquor shops) and CL 11-C (MSIL retail shops) are allowed to open from May 4 with restricted timings.
The shops can operate only between 9 am and 7 pm by maintaining standard operating procedures like six-foot distance must be maintained between each customer, not more than five persons can stand in the queue at a time, both customers and the shop operators must wear masks, shops should keep alcohol-based sanitisers.
Liquor shops in containment zones and in malls, however, continue to remain closed.
