Union Cabinet approves spectrum auction for telecom service providers

The Union Cabinet on wednesday approved a proposal of the Department of Telecommunications to conduct a spectrum auction that will enable incumbent telecom service provide to increase their network capacity. New players who win bids will be able to start their services.The auction ,which will be for spectra in 700MHz,800MHz,900MHz,1800MHz,2100mHz,2300MHz,2500Mhz frequency bands will be offered for a validity period of 20 years.
