Teachings of Sri Karunakara Guru A New Light in Spirituality – Governor

Pothencode: Governor Arif Mohammad Khan said that the life and teachings of Navjyoti Sri Karunakara Guru are reminders of India’s great spiritual heritage. Guru’s teachings stand as a new beacon of spirituality in this era. He was speaking inaugurating the 25th Navaoli Jyotir Dinam celebrations at Santhigiri Ashram. Santhigiri is a shrine of peace and love, he added. He started his speech in Malayalam by saying that the spirit of this Ashram is the words of Guru: ‘Word is Truth, Truth is Guru, Guru is God.’

Guru taught people to realize the oneness of humanity beyond the differences of caste, religion, and colour. Realizing that the body is the instrument of the soul’s activity, the Guru concentrated on human society. Guru’s spirituality was based on human welfare. Guru first gave food to the hungry, healing to the body, and peace of mind to the soul. He used to ask those who came to see him, ‘Have you eaten?’ The Governor commented that the Santhigiri Ashram and the branch ashrams are working with the greatness of Annadanam, Athurasevanam, and self-knowledge. The Governor reached the Ashram at 11 am, prayed at the prayer hall, and offered flowers at the lotus Parnashala.

Food Minister G.R. Anil was the chairman of the Conference. He said that the country has a rich spiritual tradition. Sri Karunakara Guru showed that the path of asceticism is not alien to solving the various problems existing in society. The Minister said that Santhigiri’s mission is to make the country move forward towards activities aimed at the good of human beings irrespective of caste and religion. M.Vincent MLA, Ashram President Swami Chaitanya Jnana Thapaswi, General Secretary Swami Gururatnam Jnana Thapasvi, and Janani Kripa Jnana Thapaswini were present in the meeting.

The prayer ceremonies started with worship at five o’clock in the morning. A special Puspanjali was performed at the Lotus Parnashala by the Sannyasa Sangha. After Guru Darshan and various dedications to Guru, thousands of people partook in the Annadanam.
