Pournami Deepa Pradashinam at Santhigiri

Pothencode: Kumbhamasa Pournami was celebrated at Santhigiri Ashram in a devotional atmosphere with fasting and sanctity. A special prayer and Kumbham-Deepapradakshina was held on the occasion of Poornami. The Kumbha-Deepa Pradakshina was held under the leadership of Sannyasi-Sannyasinis around 6 pm, in an atmosphere vibrant with Akhand Mantras, the devotees clad in white circled the Ashram in the evening carrying Kumbhams and lighted lamps.

Kumbham and Deepa Pradakshina took place at 6 pm, midnight yesterday, and after worship at 5 am today. At Santhigiri, devotees observe the full moon fast every month. Some fast from sunrise to sunset on full moon days, and some of them fast once.

Poornami Vratam for students is best for advancement in education.  It is also known as Poornima in South India. It is believed that prayer and fasting on that day is a solution for the sins of birth, pitru dosha, and for removing all negative spiritual influences.
