Bengaluru: Congress leader and former state minister DK Shivakumar will officially take charge as the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president on May 31. Even though he was appointed as the new president of the Congress party’s state unit on March 11, he was not able to take charge due to various reasons.

According to sources, the event will be held at the KPCC office on Queen’s Road in Bengaluru. Only 60 persons will be invited for the event as per the government’s rules and regulations.

According to his spiritual guide, Nonavinakere Ajjayya’s suggestion that May 31 is an auspicious date, he is taking charge of the party’s state unit on this day.

Meanwhile, DK’s team has decided to issue passes to the invitees of the programme. “Only important leaders will be invited for the event,” said one of his close associates.
