Bengaluru: Karnataka witnessed a major spike in corona positive cases with 54 new cases on Sunday morning.
With this, the total tally has reached 1,146.
The state also witnessed one death from the Udupi district, taking the state’s total fatalities due to COVID-19 to 37.
The 54-year-old man from Udupi had died on Saturday evening. He was admitted to the hospital after a cardiac arrested and was tested positive for COVID-19 on May 16.
While it is the 37th COVID-19 fatality of the state, it is the first Covid-10 death from Udupi.
The state witnessed maximum cases from Mandya with 22 cases and most of them had an inter-state travel history to Maharashtra.
Other districts that reported positive cases are Udupi (1), Dakshina Kannada (2), Kolar (3), Hasan (6), Vijayapura (1), Dharwad (4), Shivamogga (2), Kalaburgi (10), Yadgir (3).
