Karnataka CM BS Yediyurappa tests positive for COVID-19, hospitalised

Bengaluru: Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa has tested positive for Coronavirus, on Sunday night.

In a brief post on Twitter, the CM, who is 77-years-old stated that he is fine, but has been admitted to the hospital on the advice of doctors.

He had also urged all those who have come in contact with him to undergo self-isolation and also look for symptoms.

“I have tested positive for coronavirus. Whilst I am fine, I am being hospitalised as a precaution on the recommendation of doctors. I request those who have come in contact with me recently to be observant and exercise self-quarantine,” Karnataka CM BS Yediyurappa tweeted.

It was on Sunday afternoon that Union Home Minister Amit Shah was tested positive for the infection. Yediyurappa is the second CM in the country, after Madhya Pradesh CM Shivaraj Singh Chouhan to be tested positive for Corona.

On Saturday, Karnataka Agriculture Minister BC Patil said he and his wife have tested positive for coronavirus and are under home quarantine

Prior to Patil, Forest Minister Anand Singh and Tourism Minister CT Ravi had tested positive for Covid-19.

The state, on Sunday, clocked 5,532 fresh cases of coronavirus and 84 deaths due to it, pushing the tally of confirmed cases to 1.34 lakh and the toll to 2,496.
