Religious Harmony Week; World Peace Summit in Thiruvananthapuram

Thiruvananthapuram: The World Peace Summit will be held in Thiruvananthapuram on February 10 and 11 as part of the United Nations Religious Harmony Week. Santhigiri Ashram General Secretary Swami Gururatnam Jnana Thapasvi will inaugurate the Summit with themes like ‘Unity, Power of Peace and Redefining Sustainable Development of Humanity’. MP Ram Chander Jangra will be the chief guest on the occasion.

The summit is organized under the joint auspices of United Religious Initiative (URI) South India Region, World Yoga Community New York, Interfaith Dialogue for Sustainable Development Goals (IRD4SDG), Santhigiri Ashram, University of Madras and Cosmic Community Center. The two-day event will discuss the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Apart from presentations and panel discussions aimed at interfaith harmony and world peace, religious harmony prayers and various cultural programs will be held.

The General Assembly of the UN passed the resolution in 2010 for the celebration of the week of interfaith harmony around the world. Then every year 1st to 7th February is observed as World Religious Harmony Week. Recognizing the necessity of communication between different faiths and religions to promote mutual understanding, unity, and cooperation among people, the World Peace Summit aims to spread the message of inter-faith harmony and promote unity among people regardless of faith, said D Sasikumar, the chief coordinator of the summit in a press conference held at Thiruvananthapuram Press Club. Dr. TP Sasikumar, World Yoga Community Global Advisor, and Dr. MNC Bose, Program Director, were also present a the Press Conference.
