Govt not for Monday’s state-wide bundh: Karnataka CM

Bengaluru: Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa has said that the government is not going to support the bundh call given by the various farmers’ organisation on September 28.

The CM, in a press meet on Sunday said that the Modi government at the centre is persistently working for the betterment of the farmers.

“The need for the ammendments to various Acts have been communicated to the Farmers’ leaders. We have tried to convince them. We are not going to support this bundh,” said the CM.

Meanwhile, Revenue Miister R Ashok said that the government offices and hospitals will run as usual. Even KSRTC and its divisions will ply buses as usual.

“The general public need not worry about safety. They can go ahead and do their routine works. The police have been directed to take stern action against those forcing people to support the bundh,” he said.

Several farmers’ organisations across Karnataka have called for state-wide bundh on Monday to mark their protest against the state government’s Land Reforms Ordinances and Centre’s agriculture Bills.
