Pothencode: Lulu Group Chairman M. A. Yusuff Ali said that Santhigiri Ashram’s contribution to India’s pluralism is unique. He was speaking as the Chief Guest at the Navapoojitham celebrations at Santhigiri. Sree Karunakara Guru is a Guru with ‘compassion’ (Karuna) in his name. Compassion is essentially about caring for the world. ‘Karuna’ was also imparted by Guru to the society. He said that one should show compassion to one’s parents and he who does not will not succeed in life. Even during times of suffering, those who came here to see Guru would not leave without receiving food. He added that there is much to be learned from Guru Darsans and that he deeply values the loving relations that he has with Ashram General Secretary, Swami Gururethnam, who speaks for secularism, and the Sanyasi Sangha of Santhigiri. The release of the newly consecrated souvenir was given by Latin Archdiocese Archbishop Dr. Thomas J. Netto to M. A. Yusuff Ali. Director General, Fire and Rescue Service, Home Guard & Civil Defence B. Sandhya IPS who completed 35 years of meritorious service in the Kerala Police Force was felicitated by Yusuff Ali and Swami Gururethnam Jnana Thapaswi at the Navapoojitham event.

Minister of Food and Civil Supplies G. R. Anil presided over the meeting and Goa Governor P.S. Sreedharan Pillai inaugurated the Navapoojitham Conference. Sri Lankan Tourism Minister Harin Fernando M. P. delivered the keynote address on the occasion. The Goa Governor, Sri Lankan Minister and M.A. Yusuff Ali were honoured by the members of the Gurudharma Prakashasabha. Santhigiri Ashram President Swami Chaitanya Jnana Thapaswi, General Secretary Swami Gururethnam Jnana Thapaswi and Organising Secretary Swami Gurumithran Jnana Thapaswi graced the occasion with their revered presence. BJP State Secretary J. R. Padmakumar, Sindhuram Charities Chairman Sabeer Thirumala, Pothencode Gram Panchayat President T. R. Anil, Dr. K. Omanakutty and Dr. M. Kamalalakshmiw were present for the event. International Operations Section In-charge Swami Janananma Jnana Thapaswi delivered the welcome speech and the Healthcare Section Patron Dr. K. N. Syam Prasad delivered the vote of thanks.

M. A. Yusuff Ali, who reached the Research Zone of the Ashram in the morning by helicopter, was received by the General Secretary of the Ashram and the Sanyasi Sangha. After the Navapoojitham Conference, he visited the Spiritual Zone of the Ashram and participated in the floral offering ceremony at the Parnasala. After a short friendly conversation, he returned in the afternoon. Several thousands flocked to Santhigiri to see him.
