Sanyasa Deeksha Varshikam at Santhigiri: Twenty Brahmacharis Initiated to Sanyasa by Gurusthaniya Shishya Poojitha

Pothencode: On the occasion of the 38th Sanyasa Deeksha Varshikam of Santhigiri Ashram, twenty brahmacharis were initiated by Gurusthaniya Shishya Poojita Amritha Jnana Thapaswini. The rituals started with worship at 5 o’clock in the morning. Deeksha ceremony began at 7 AM in the Sahakarana Mandiram in a prayerful atmosphere. One by one, the Brahmacharis offered lotus flowers and a silver lamp to Shishya Poojitha and prostrated. After performing worship and putting garland on the pedestal of Guru, each one received new name and clothes from Shishya Poojitha. The plain-clothed brahmacharis changed to saffron clothes after initiation. The Ashram General Secretary Swami Gururetnam Jnana Thapasvi ushered in the new members to Sahakarana Mandiram. The General Secretary announced the initiation name of the new members as willed by Guru.

Stefan, a native of Germany, will henceforth be known as Swami Sathyavrathan Jnana Thapasvi. Manoj Kumar C.P. who was in the Police Department, his new name is Swami Jagatrupan Jnana Thapasvi. Brahmachari Nibu is Swami Jyotirprabha, Harikrishnan G- Swami Satyachith, EO Babu- Swami Mangalanandan, Sreejith MV – Swami Sreejith, Rajeevan PS- Swami Prakashrupa, Anup. TP- Swami Atmadharma, Girish E- Swami Atmabodha, Rajeevan OP – Swami Karunyanandan, Bineesh M – Swami Nithyaprakash, Bijumon PM- Swami Atmachithan, Manojkumar KP – Swami Chittaprakash, Madhusudanan PP- Swami Janaprabha, Gopikrishnan UP- Swami Ashokatheerthan, Jayachandran VS – Swami Chandratheerthan, Vinodkumar PR- Swami Vivek, Jayachandran NP – Swami Jayaprabha, Biju K – Swami Padmagiri, and Mahesh PP will be Swami Nithya Chaitanyan from now on. ‘Jnana Thapasvi’ will also be appended with the name. Sixty people, including 36 young boys and 24 young girls joined the group of Brahmacharis on Sanyasa Deeksha Varshikam. Five of them are from outside Kerala.

As part of the ceremonies, a Deeksha Yatra of Sanyasis and Brahmacharis was taken out from the Guru’s garden in the Spiritual Zone at 11 am accompanied by parasols and musical instruments. Other members of Gurudharma Prakasa Sabha and devotees participated in the procession. With the addition of 20 new members, the strength of 86-member Sanyasa Sangha of the Ashram has increased to 106 members. After the 12’ noon worship, various offerings of Sanyasa Sangha and Rakshakarta Samiti took place at the Lotus Parnashala. Thousands of devotees from different parts of the world and prominent persons from spiritual, social, political, and cultural fields participated in the function. After worship at 6 p.m., floral offering followed by Deepa Pradakshina around the Ashram took place. With this, the special rituals and prayer ceremonies that had begun ten days ago have come to an end.
