Karnataka reports 6,495 new COVID-19 cases, 113 deaths on Tuesday

Bengaluru: The state on Monday, reported 6,495 new COVID-19 cases and 113 fatalities owing to the disease. The total number of infections in Karnataka now stand at 3,42,423 and the death toll has risen to 5,702, the state health department said.

Additionally, 7,238 patients were discharged after making a full recovery.

Of the 6,495 new cases, 1,862 were from the Bengaluru Urban district alone.

Of the total 3,42,423 COVID-19 confirmed cases in the state, 5,702 are deaths and 2,49,467 are recoveries, the health department’s bulletin stated.

There are 87,235 active cases in the state, 86,488 of whom are isolated at designated hospitals and are stable, while 747 are being treated in the ICU.

Of the 113 deaths, 27 are from Bengaluru urban, 12 are from Dakshina Kannada, nine are from Dharwad, six each are from Davangere and Mysuru, five each are from Ballari, Belagavi and Haveri, four each are from Kalaburgi, Mandya and Shivamogga, three each are from Tumakuru and Vijayapura, two each are from Chamarajanagara, Chikkamagaluru, Hassan, Raichur, Ramanagara and Udupi, and one each are from Bagalkote, Bengaluru rural, Bidar, Chikkaballapura, Gadag, Kolar, Koppal and Uttara Kannada.

A majority of those who succumbed to the disease either had a history of Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI) or Influenza-like illness (ILI).

Bengaluru Urban reported 1,862 ne cases, Mysuru had 405, Ballari had 365, Tumakuru had 316, Chitradurga had 286, Dharwad had 279, Dakshina Kannada had 270, Davangere had 257, Hassan had 217, Koppal had 200, followed by others.
