Pothencode : Somaiya Vidyavihar University Vice Chancellor Dr. V. N. Rajasekharan Pillai said that Navajyothi Sree Karunakara Guru’s thoughts and ideologies are the teachings that society needs. He was speaking at the Conference held in conjunction with the Santhigiri Ashram Navapoojitham celebrations. Several things are happening in today’s society that completely ignore the importance of the central point of being human. With each passing day, man is becoming increasingly restless and greedy. He said that Santhigiri is a place where thoughts of goodness and virtue are imparted to a society who is struggling to understand where the world is heading as time goes on. MP Binoy Viswam presided over the function. Among the various Guru Parampara (lineages), Sree Karunakara Guru stands out. The MP said that Guru’s life journey was to open the path of love, goodness and light to man – one that transcends the boundaries of religion, caste and so on. Swami Abhayananda, Mathews Mor Silvanus Episcopa, Santhigiri Ashram President Swami Chaitanya Jnana Thapaswi, Vice President Swami Nirmohatma Jnana Thapaswi and Swami Snehatma Jnana Thapaswi were present for the ceremony. The book “Oruma” (Togetherness) by Swami Gurunand Jnana Thapaswi and “Karunyathinte Kalppadukal” (The Footprints of Compassion), a collection of writings by one of Guru’s earliest disciples, Srinilayam G. Falgunan, were released. The students who achieved high marks in the SSLC (Grade 12) examinations were felicitated on the occasion. Director of Sree Gokulam Medical College Dr. K. K. Manojan, former Women’s Commission Member Dr. Prameela Devi, St. John’s Medical Village Director Fr. Jose Kizhakkedam, Brahmakumari Beena, CRPF Medical D.I.G. Dr. Lingaraj, writer Jayan Pothencode, Vakkam Khader Memorial Chairman M. A. Latif, various cultural department in-charges of the Ashram – Dr. A. N. Jayasree, Srivas A., Ajith A., Mini K. R., Omana P., Suma P. G. and Gurupriyan G. spoke on the occasion. Swami Gurunand Jnana Thapaswi delivered the welcome speech and G. Prabhakaran delivered the vote of thanks. More than 500 people from different areas participated in the function.
