Sultan Bathery: The Gurusthaneeya (Guru Apparent) Shishyapoojitha Amrita Jnana Thapaswini, performed the consecration ceremony at Santhigiri Ashram Nambiarkunnu on Wednesday at 9 am – a ceremony whose atmosphere became blissful with the chanting of Akhanta Mantras. The function was led by Santhigiri Ashram President Swami Chaitanya Jnana Thapaswi, General Secretary Swami Gururethnam Jnana Thapaswi and various other sanyasi-sanyasinis. A grand musical soundscape formed while the lamp in the Prarthanalayam (Prayer Hall) was being lit by Her Holiness Shishyapoojitha – a soulful amalgamation of Guru Mantras flowing incessantly from the throats of hundreds of athmabandhus (soul-kin) who had dedicated their minds and bodies in devotion, blended with the Edakka Vadyam by Njeralathu Harigovindan and traditional percussive music.

The construction of the Prayer Hall at Nambiarkunnu closely follows that of the Central Ashram. In the ‘mandapam’ of the Prayer Hall, under the ‘sharakudam’, atop ten steps stands the ‘Prathishta’ – an Aumkar etched into a lotus, as conceptualised and realised by the Parabrahma. An image of our beloved Guru is also placed on a lotus pedestal in the Parnasala that is adjacent to the Prarthanalayam.

The Gurusthaneeya addressed our Parampara (lineage) after the ceremony. Shishyapoojitha said that this consecration ceremony is a prayer for the children of the land and that the goodness and light of Guru will flow continuously in this area. Artistic performances by the Thudithalam Gothrakalasangham, a secular-spiritual cultural gathering and annadaanam (distribution of free food) followed. The ashram saw a great flow of devotees and locals from different parts of the land.

Since Gurusthaneeya Shishyapoojitha arrived for the consecration ceremony on Tuesday, the Ashram premises have been filled with devotees. At 8 pm, Janani Abheda Jnana Thapaswini, who is in charge of the branch ashram, and various other Sanyasi-Sanyasinis, welcomed Shishyapoojitha with a full Kumbham. Nenmeni Gram Panchayat President Sheela Punchavayal and other social workers, representatives and many locals participated in the reception ceremony.
