Sannyasa is Self Sacrifice with Equanimity: Swami Gurunand Jnana Thapasvi.

“Manju”

Pothencode: Swami Gurunand Jnana Thapaswi said that sannyasa means performing actions with equanimity rather than ascetic withdrawal. The Swami dwelt upon the inner engineering required to achieve the aim of Sannyasa in the Satsang held today (19.10.2023) at the Santhigiri Spiritual Zone Auditorium.

Sannyasa in Kali Yuga, or today’s sannyasa is about finding solutions to society’s problems, the Swami said. Abhivandhya Shishyapoojita once informed us that Sannyasa is self-sacrifice. Sacrifice is forsaking something that we possess or are attached to. You have to get rid of your likes and dislikes. Sannyasa is required within the mind. One should not think that once you become a Sannyasi you are freed from the karmic problems. Those defects in life should be erased with vigilance (shraddha) and constant effort.

Vasana (innate tendency) produces repetitive actions, and the devotee should not translate harmful vasana into actions. All lackings should be erased by offering one’s thoughts and actions at the feet of Guru. By surrendering at the feet of Guru all sins can be burnt away. One should be vigilant not to make mistakes while performing actions and should get rid of ego and attachment to power. One should earn virtue by living very carefully based on dharma, the Swami explained.

T.K Unnikrishna Prasad, Senior General Manager (Technical), O/O General Secretary, welcomed the gathering and Shantigiri Vishwasamskrit Kalarangam Deputy Convener Bindu Sunilkumar expressed the vote of thanks. Balakrishna Pillai K of the Janasevikapuram unit and Baiji TP of the Karunapuram unit shared their experiences with Guru and the Ashram.
