Ardha Varshika Kumbha Mela Celebrated in Santhigiri Ashram

Pothencode: Santhigiri Ashram celebrated Ardha Kumbha Mela in an atmosphere charged with devotion. Thousands of devotees took out a procession in the evening, carrying kumbhams and lamps, and circled the ashram complex with the accompaniment of colorful parasols, traditional percussion, and music bands. Many thousands from inside and outside the country participated in the half-yearly Kumbhamela.

Poojita Peeddom Samarapanam is the anniversary of the spiritual elevation of Her Holiness Shishya Poojitha to the status of Guru apparent. Half-yearly Kumbha Mela is also celebrated on this occasion. Taking Kumbham along with 41 days of fasting is a ritual that redeems ancestral souls, and cures diseases, and family curses.

Sannyasis and sannyasinis led the Kumbha Mela procession, which began at 5’0 o’clock in the evening. When the Kumbha procession reached Yajnashala, the whole place became vibrant with devotion and the chanting of Guru Mantra.

The ceremonies began with the worship at five o’clock this morning. A special guru Pushpajnali was held at Parnashala under the leadership of Sannyasa Sangha and 72 appointed persons of the ashram.

The flag hoisting ceremony took place at six. There was Guru Darshan at noon. Devotees from several regions made various offerings on this occasion.
